Stephen Colbert and Scott Bakula Try to Change Donald Trumps Future in Quantum Leap Sketch

Stephen Colbert has made his feelings about Donald Trump clear, and on Wednesday he tried a new strategy to defeat the presumptive GOP presidential nominee: time-travel.

Colbert brought back Scott Bakula to reprise his role as Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap. Colbert played an old episode of Quantum Leap in which Bakula’s character influences a young Trump to get into real estate.

Donald Trump‘s rise is the fault of Scott Bakula,” joked Colbert. He then travels back in time and tells Bakula to pick up “little Trump” and “get ready to change the future.”

Unfortunately, nothing goes according to plan. Sam Beckett tries to convince Trump not to get into politics because he can’t “handle it” and that only makes future Trump more likely to get into politics to “show some dumb cab driver who said [he] couldn’t handle it.” This future Trump is elected pope.

As things go from bad to worse, Colbert implies they should make use of a crowbar and the East River to really take care of the situation. Finally, Trump is told to always say the first thing that comes to his mind, and everything returns to normal in the future. Well, almost.
