2003: It Begins
Francis was jailed for contempt of court in Florida in 2003, when a judge deemed that he hadn't meaningfully participated in settlement talks. The talks followed a lawsuit by two young women who claimed he had filmed them naked and underage. He ended up spending more than 300 days in jail. Ashley Dupre Sues in 2007
In 2007, Ashley Dupre sued Francis for filming her without permission. Francis had publicized his footage after Dupre, a call girl at the time, became famous for consorting with then New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer. She subsequently dropped the suit.

In 2007, the department of Justice claimed Francis had taken more than $20 million in false tax deductions. He pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor and was given credit for time served. He still is fighting the amount.
Steve Wynn Sues in 2008
Casino mogul Steve Wynn sued Francis for defamation in 2007. A jury decided in Wynn's favor. Francis is appealing the $20 million decision.
Florida Jury Sides with Francis
Four women sued Francis in 2008 for allegedly filming them when they were underage. A Panama City, Fla. jury found in his favor.
The 2013 Conviction
In May 2013, Francis was convicted on three counts of false imprisonment, one count of assault likely to cause great bodily injury and one count of dissuading a witness.
